On June 29–30, 2023, I had the opportunity to participate in the Turkey Design Vision 2030 Workshop, held at Bilişim Vadisi in collaboration with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), World Design Organization (WDO), and the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology.
As an industrial designer, it was incredibly valuable to witness how national design policies, future strategies, and global perspectives converge to shape Turkey’s long-term vision for design.
Throughout the two-day program, leading professionals, policymakers, academics, and designers came together to discuss crucial topics such as:
The role of design in future policies
Strengthening Turkey’s design identity
Encouraging international design collaboration
Integrating global trends into local ecosystems
We also participated in panel sessions like “Design Strategies within Global Trends” and “Design for Unpredictable Conditions,” which highlighted the growing importance of systemic, solution-oriented design thinking in national development.
This workshop provided me with a broader understanding of how industrial design contributes not only to innovation but also to cultural positioning and sustainable progress.
It was an inspiring and productive event. I’m grateful to have taken part in this milestone initiative for Turkey’s design future.
